MEET YOUR EXECUTIVE CHEF

Kirel Shaw
Founder/Owner/Executive Chef

Born in Detroit, MI and raised in Grand Rapids, MI. As a father of 4, he enjoys teaching his children the craft of cooking with passion. Furthermore, being an avid comic book and anime fan, these themes often pop up in his dishes as “easter eggs.” A dish that makes him feel at home is fried chicken, spaghetti & meatballs. Something special that separates Chef Shaw from other local Chefs is: in lieu of the traditional culinary school, Chef Shaw has gained his knowledge and skill working under countless chefs in the Grand Rapids & Greater Grand Rapids area, totaling over 15+ years in the industry. Chef Shaw has spent later part of his culinary career studying a wide range of native African cuisine & African American history.

“At some point it clicked for me — that I was tired of making other people rich. In 2020 My goal was to acquire a food truck within 5 years. It’s now 2024 and My team and I have had our truck for 2 years and currently working on opening our first brick and mortar location.”
